It should say that it works with iphone or made for iphone.
If it doesnt, I would be worried about using it.

I bought one of these (Solio classic1) and tried to use it on my iPhone 3G for the first time today via the USB tip and the Apple USB cable. Unfortunately it doesnt seem to work. Once, out of about 10 attempts using various combinations of reset/connect/etc., the iPhone recognised a charge input. But it didnt last long, didnt do much, and cant seem to do it again.
The Solio is fully charged (reports 5 green flashes for 100%).
Argh!

I have a solio classic and tried using the female usb connector also. Like you I have tried numerous combinations, turning phone on and off, charging with power point plugged in simulatenously and still no joy. I have emailed Better Energy Systems and I havent yet received a reponse to the problem. I have also noticed Solios forums have been taken down. I dont wish to discredit Solio. Ive used it for other devices on many outdoor trips. Just hoping a solution can be found (or devised) for the iPhone 3G

Bit of an update. I think it may have to do with software control over the USB interface, and hence the firmware... ahem.
I did a restore to factory firmware and then my settings. The iPhone now responds to the charger. I think it did turn off after a little while, but it is now consistently recognising the charge.
I just connect the Apple usb cable to the female Solio tip, plug in to the Solio and press+hold start for 5 seconds. The iPhone recognises the charger after a couple seconds.
Testing it now to see how far I get!

Gee I wish Id thought of restoring factory firmware. Looks like a weekend task. I still need my phone for work thanks for updating us all on the forum

You could restore it (note:at your own risk) and sync it from the backup, make sure you backup! Then do it, if that doesnt work call Apple at 1-800-my-apple.

Already restored once. No change.
Also problems with not being able to connect to Apple Airport Extreme.
And obviously really horrible batterylife.
But I guess the biggest problem is the fact that it doesnt ring.
Ill probably send it to the local reseller for repair (the phone is not even one week old...)

I am having exact same problem and I can consistently reproduce the issue!!
Let the phone go to sleep mode and then call from another phone. If you never touch the phone, it doesnt ring ... but if you touch the home button, it starts ringing.
I never had this problem before upgrading 2.0. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

Im having the same exact issue...and when i wake the phone up after its been in sleep mode for a while, the time is off by 10 minutes to 1 hour!
My phone was fine before i upgraded to 2.0.1 (and just restored and installed 2.0.2 with the same exact issues)

I had to upgrade my phone to 3G because of this issue. I ate the loss this time ... but if I encounter this problem again, I will never buy another Apple product. I was thinking buying a Mac Air ... but suspending it for few months.
There is no excuse if a phone stops working as a phone.

More space on the iPhone? Or on your local harddrive?
Make sure the iPhone is running the latest firmware (2.0.2) and you also use the most recent iTunes version.
